The project unites the city centre and the harbour area - by placing Bodø New Concert Hall and Library in the centre of the city, and by further development of the harbour area, which can be used more efficiently than today.
Because Bodø is situated north of the polar circle, the new cultural buildings are shaped by solar and wind conditions of each plot. The outdoor spaces are organized as sheltered areas in - and around the buildings, and as smaller activity zones along a wooden harbour promenade, which connects the city with the harbour.
Bodø New Concert Hall and Library open up for the public as shifting landscapes, and the buildings create a new identity for the outdoor spaces in Bodø centre.
