MUTOPIA completes SPARK, a sports-park with a collection of stimulating sports villages

The transformation of Odense Comrades’ Sportsclub (OKS) 40.000m2 large football club premises into a multifunctional sports-park dubbed SPARK has been completed.

SPARK provides an inspiring sports & leisure environment at a central city location in response to the steadily growing interest for sport as a catalyst for activity and public life, while in the same time creating a new identity for OKS.

SPARK combines the two Danish traditions for football and allotment gardens into a number of gabled roof ‘sports sheds’ which root the project within the urban context of allotments and sheds, and provide informal space for a diversity of sports and physical activities to improve physical, social and football skills.

The ‘sports sheds’, clustered into three ‘sports villages’ corresponding to three programmatic activity zones including football technique training, parkour and gymnastics, have been developed in close collaboration with project stakeholders, future users and Lokale and Anlægsfonden (The Danish Foundation for Sports and Culture Facilities), to enable a more versatile and intensive usage of the area.
