FrederiksborgCentret breaks ground

The construction of the multipurpose sports venue FrederiksborgCenter is underway, with Hillerød Mayor Dorte Meldgaard and Chairman of the FrederiksborgCenter Board of Directors Torben Nyegaard Olesen attending a groundbreaking ceremony Wednesday the 30th of August.

The shovel typically used during the groundbreaking ceremony was symbolically replaced by a large excavator, to underline the importance of the 115 M. Kr. large investment, which will benefit both the city of Hillerød, as well as North Zealand – the area north of Copenhagen.

The 8.800m2 large addition to the renowned cultural venue of North Zealand, shaped as a Golden Cube featuring a dark top and a golden volume on a concrete base, will accommodate and facilitate a wide range of activities, including large concerts and sports competitions with up to 4.000 spectators, a VIP lounge, cloudboxes for VIP guests, conference rooms, a gym and a sports youth hostel.

The project is a winner of a turnkey competition, with the winning team comprising MUTOPIA together with Aarstiderne Arkitekter, C.C. Contractor and Midtconsult Engineers.

FrederiksborgCentret is expected to open in spring 2019.
